The majority of automotive and aerospace companies use CATIA. And one of the reasons is CATIA's extensive surfacing capabilities.
If looking for just designing use or conseptual design you can go for CATIA but if you are looking for design as well as mechanical operations and accuracy over it you should go for Solidworks.
As solidworks is bit user friendly than CATIA i suggest you to go ahead with Solidworks.

There is no 'best' CAD software. Most of the 'best' factor comes from the end-users skill sets. You can become a surface modelling pro in all of the above mentioned software. If you have a chance to try out the software you can take an intermediate model and try to model it in each of the software to figure out what suits you best.
Fusion 360 is also good. And all the software have tremendous tutorials all over the internet. So enjoy. :)
Depends on whether you're attempting to build functional class A surfaces or not. If you're interest is simply, modeling organic forms, then there are a lot of sub-division modelers to choose from like 3ds, Maya, Zbrush, etc.
If functional surfaces are the goal; the types that other software can interact with and analyse, then the most widely used are Alias and IcemSurf.
NX and Catia are capable class A surface modelers but not as widely used at that end of the design process.
If you want to design complex auto or planes.(with all components) you should use CATIA.But notice that,CATIA's interface is annoying and complicated.If you don't need a big assembly capacity you can use SolidWorks.Because SolidWorks' assembly part is blocked in large assemblies.By the way SolidWorks is cheaper and friendly and has more advantageous about learning stuff on youtube etc.As a result,I recommend SolidWorks for just one machine or tool design.(I think Catia includes SolidWorks in many ways.)
